Financing in Puerto Rico

U.S. residents looking to purchase property in Puerto Rico have access to financing options similar to those on the mainland. These include FHA loans, USDA rural loans, VA loans for eligible veterans, and a variety of conventional loan products. However, it’s important to note that financing must be arranged locally. Mainland banks do not provide loans for properties in Puerto Rico.

Buyers need to obtain a pre-qualification from a Puerto Rico-based bank, a licensed mortgage loan originator (MLO) with a Puerto Rico license.
